
Writer Director

Alana is a writer/director based in Montreal.After working in the New York indie scene, she honed her craft as a location manager on high-profile productions, collaborating with directors including Steven Spielberg, Denys Arcand, Frank Oz, Todd Haynes, and François Girard. She then moved onto her passion: writing and directing.Alana's exhilarated by the energy of collaboration and drawn to stories filled with invention, wonder, and a healthy dose of the absurd. Her short films have screened at festivals worldwide, including the Ann Arbor Film Festival, San Francisco Dance Film Festival, Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois, and Washington Jewish Film Festival, earning awards including the Indie Spirit Award and Best Short Film at the Canadian Filmmakers Festival.Her work has been funded by Bravofact, SODEC, Canada Council for the Arts, and Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec. She's an alumna of TIFF's Talent Lab, Women in the Director's Chair at Banff Centre, and Telefilm's Feature It!Most recently, her project Gertie's Gotta Go was selected for the New Directors, New Films Pitching Forum in Portugal.
